Membership Categories

ABA Australia is pleased to announce the launching of our professional self-regulation. Effective 15 August 2022, ABA Australia will end offering the following types of membership. If you are a current member, please see our questions & answers  page for how this will affect your membership and renewal.

Professional Capabilities at Five Career Stages

ABA Australia’s memberships have been organised into five career stages for behaviour analysts. The stages reflect the continuum of a behaviour analyst’s developing professional expertise from entry level through expert.

Previously, as an association, we had three levels of membership. Under our new self-regulation framework we have created new levels of membership to best accommodate this continuum of expertise. These are Certified Behaviour Analyst (CBA), Certified Behaviour Analyst-Undergraduate (CBA-U), Professional, Associate, Student and Supporter.

CBAs and CBA-Us fall under our professional self-regulated procedure. Professional and Associate are member categories for professionals engaged in activities of behaviour analytic practice but who do not meet self-regulation requirements.

The student membership is for those interested in or studying behaviour analysis and would like to stay connected to the profession.

The supporter member is for members of the public, without formal behaviour analytic qualifications, who are interested in Australian behaviour analysis.

All CBA, CBA-U, Professional, Associate, and Student members must abide by the ABA Australia Code of Ethical Practice.
