Presenter Connie Wu, Victorian Senior Practitioner’s office Description The Office of the Victorian Senior Practitioner funded a pilot project aimed at promoting the quality use of psychotropic medicines in people with intellectual disability through upskilling the workforce and promoting inter-disciplinary collaboration. The aim of the project is to assess whether increased collaboration across the care team and targeted education can lead to the reduction of psychotropic medication use and improve the quality of life of participants. Connie Wu (BPharm, MPH)
I’m a consultant pharmacist by training with experience in public health, policy and government regulation. I have a particular interest in working with prescribers to promote quality use of medicines, and have previously worked for 5 years with NPS MedicineWise in engaging GPs to change prescribing behaviours based on current evidence.
Currently, I’m working as a clinical consultant at the Victorian Senior Practitioner’s office to collaborate with health professionals and the disability sector in reducing the use of psychotropic medications in people with an intellectual disability.
