Candidate Information for President Elect

Brad Bloomfield, Ph.D., BCBA-D

I am a Doctoral Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA-D) and lecturer in Applied Behaviour Analysis at Monash University. I have been working in the field of applied behaviour analysis as a behaviour specialist, school psychologist, researcher, and lecturer for 15 years. My clinical and research interests fall under training and skill development for parents, teachers, and caretakers in the treatment of interfering behaviour. Additional
interests relate to teleconsultation and the use of novel technologies in intervention and consultation services. Prior to joining Monash University, I was an assistant professor of
school psychology at the University of Alabama. I completed my PhD at the University of Utah specialising in teleconsultation and disruptive behaviour. During my training, I completed an internship at the Marcus Autism Centre in the assessment and treatment of paediatric feeding disorders and severe problem behaviour. Prior to this, I completed my master’s degree in school psychology at the University of Utah with a specialisation in applied behaviour analysis. My publication record includes four book chapters and 20 peer-reviewed journal articles. I am an editorial board member for three journals, and have served as a guest editor for a special-topic journal on advances in consultation.

Candidate Statement

ABA Australia shares the same mission and values that I have in disseminating best practices and providing socially significant evidence-based support in the field of behaviour analysis. I have been representing Australia within the international behaviour analytic community by providing charity support to Autism Centre and Independent Living centre in Malaysia and India by upskilling staff members using positive behaviour and ethical approaches. I have been supporting local public schools and agencies in South Australia to modify policies to better fit the needs of students using positive behaviour strategies such as Adelaide West Special Education Centre and Nazareth. I have
also partnered with a local school to implement school-wide universal protocol and implement skill based treatment for students with behaviours of concern. Moreover, I am passionate about upskilling disability support workers in the industry to be registered behaviour technicians and further their role in the field of behaviour analysis to make a better impact in what we do. ABA Australia will benefit from my vibrant and unique set of skills as well as my bubbly personality and inclusiveness that can be used to represent our community across the world.
