Biography
Sarah Hutchison is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Certified Behaviour Analyst (CBA) with over a decade of experience in disability services and behaviour support. She currently serves as the Senior Manager of Behaviour Support Practice at Multicap, where she leads clinical governance, oversees restrictive practice compliance across the organisation, and supports a large team of practitioners. Under her leadership, the service has experienced significant growth in both reach and impact. Sarah brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, strategic leadership, and a deep commitment to evidence-based practice. She is chair of the Complex Behaviour Forum and a published author in peer-reviewed journals on topics such as positive behaviour support and multisystem responses to complex behaviour. Sarah is known for her innovative problem-solving, commitment to continuous improvement, and ability to develop high-performing teams. She thrives on collaboration and brings a strengths-based lens to both clinical and operational challenges. Sarah is passionate about the advancement of behaviour analysis in Australia and is eager to contribute her knowledge, experience, and energy to the ongoing success and governance of the Association for Behaviour Analysis Australia (ABAA). |
Candidate Statement
My involvement on the ABA Australia Board would bring a strategic, values-driven perspective grounded in clinical expertise, sector leadership, and a deep commitment to the advancement of behaviour analysis in Australia. In my current role as Senior Manager of Behaviour Support Practice at Multicap, I lead a large team of practitioners and oversee the organisation’s clinical governance and restrictive practice compliance. This role has equipped me with a strong understanding of national standards, legislative compliance, and stakeholder engagement—skills that are critical for supporting ABA Australia’s growth, advocacy, and influence. I bring experience in workforce development, having successfully built and led a team that has grown rapidly in size and capability. I understand the systemic challenges faced by practitioners and providers and can offer practical insights into how ABA Australia can support professional standards, ethical practice, and meaningful career pathways for analysts. My strengths enable me to think creatively, collaborate effectively, and deliver outcomes. I bring curiosity, diligence, and a people-first mindset to governance work. Through my role as chair of the Complex Behaviour Forum and as a published author, I’ve contributed to national conversations about best practice and policy in behaviour support. I am eager to apply this experience to support ABA Australia’s mission and ensure our profession continues to grow with integrity and purpose. I am especially passionate about supporting the next generation of behaviour analysts—providing mentorship, creating developmental opportunities, and helping them grow into confident, ethical practitioners who create lasting impact in the lives of others. |
