Danielle Higgins

Biography

Danielle Higgins is the Founder and Clinical Director of STARS Behaviour Services, a leading mobile paediatric behaviour consultancy operating under the NDIS framework in Australia. With almost 20 years of experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Danielle holds an MSc in ABA and is a Certified Behaviour Analyst. She specialises in early intervention, positive behaviour support, and clinical supervision, with a strong commitment to ethical and non-restrictive practices.

Danielle has extensive leadership experience, having developed and scaled a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality ABA services across home, school, and community settings. She is passionate about professional development, clinician training, and collaborative care. Danielle has led strategic growth, policy development, and organisational change management initiatives, all while maintaining a focus on evidence-based, client-centred practice.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to promoting the field of ABA in Australia through advocacy, education, and ethical service delivery. Danielle brings a comprehensive understanding of clinical practice, governance, financial sustainability, and stakeholder engagement. She is dedicated to supporting the growth of ABA Australia and contributing her skills and leadership to the advancement of the profession nationally.

Candidate Statement

ABA Australia would benefit from my involvement on the Board through my extensive clinical, leadership, and governance experience. As the Founder and Clinical Director of a thriving ABA service operating within the NDIS framework, I have firsthand understanding of the complexities of delivering ethical, sustainable, and high-quality behaviour analytic services in Australia. My professional journey has equipped me with the skills required to contribute effectively to Board discussions and initiatives, particularly in areas of governance, policy development, risk management, and clinician support.

I bring a strategic mindset, having successfully scaled my organisation while maintaining a strong commitment to ethical practice and non-restrictive interventions. My experience with change management, particularly transitioning my team and clients towards modern, compassionate ABA approaches, aligns with the evolving values and mission of ABA Australia.

My governance and leadership skills are complemented by financial oversight capabilities, marketing experience, and the ability to build collaborative partnerships. I have developed and implemented internal policies, training frameworks, and service protocols that align with NDIS Practice Standards, ensuring compliance and high standards of care.

Additionally, I have a strong commitment to promoting professional development, mentorship, and public education around behaviour analysis. My background in supervising BCBAs and CBAs, as well as my ongoing work in parent and caregiver training, demonstrates my dedication to growing the profession responsibly and inclusively.

I am confident that my combination of clinical expertise, strategic leadership, and collaborative approach will add significant value to ABA Australia’s Board. I am eager to contribute to the organisation’s growth, advocate for our profession, and support initiatives that will benefit both practitioners and the wider community.
